The Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC)
The ASIC is a permit in the form of cards or other documentation issued to persons employed at the airports and vulnerable points or who otherwise have a need for authorised access to the Airside or SRAs.
“The Director of Civil Aviation is the Authority responsible for controlling and administering the ASIC System within the Republic of Mauritius. The Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) Permit Office is responsible for the processing of all applications, verifications, issuance and monitoring of ASICs in Mauritius and Rodrigues."
Types of ASICs issued by the Permit Office:
1. Permanent ASIC 2. Temporary ASIC 3. Provisional ASIC
The purpose of Aviation Identification Card (ASIC) is: 1. To allow to Airside/SRAs to authorized persons on duty when undertaking official business. 2. To enable unauthorized persons to be identified within the Airside/SRA.
The responsibilities of ASIC holders are: 1. To safeguard the ASIC. 2. To account for its use and to prevent tampering. 3. To report its loss immediately to Airport Police for Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport or Plaine Corail Police for Plaine Corail Airport and the Issuing Authority. 4. To contribute in enhancing aviation security.
Application of ASIC All applications for both permanent and provisional ASICs must be made electronically via the online portal as stated below: http://dcapermitoffice.govmu.org Only signatories from respective stakeholders who have been approved by the Director of Civil Aviation shall be authorised to make online applications for ASICs.
